I was watching some sports show on the Discovery Channel, and it was used sensors to track the energy of a baseball pitchers pitch. It showed the kinetic energy starting from the pitchers foot from the ground, moving up into his leg, body, arm, and then to the throw. They then showed a boxer’s punch, the energy went from the ground to into his lower back and into the punch. It stated that when the energy starts from the ground like that, then the punch or throw is twice as power full than normal.
My question is; Is your body borrowing the energy from the ground and drawing it into your body during these movements, or is your own energy just building up and starting from your foot?
In Qi Gong, it says your energy starts from your furnace, in the abdomen area, so the sensors would have show the energy going down into the foot and then back up, but it didn’t, the energy started from the feet.
I think it’s built up for the most part in yourself.
I do a little martial arts but im not an expert. But from what ive learned in Wing Chun, Chin Na, and Tai Chi is that your body uses it’s own energy but the ground as a center almost. So using the ground as a trigger, your body builds up the energy and using the ground as a base is pushed out through movement of your arm AND waist.
But the flaw i find in your description is that a throw from a pitcher is very different from a punch. The throw uses kinteic energy built up in the movement of his lower body and moves up to power his arms.
But for the future i woudlent try doing any pitcher punches to gain any umph to your hits. The movement of the body in an action like that is just too predictable and leaves you open to instant/ almost positively future counters that will leave you down.
I think it’s wrong that they used a boxer to test the movement of energy in a punch. Martial arts movements of energy in my retrospect would be much more significant.

Qi = Breath.
I gave an answer last week about the Chinese character for Qi where I explained that it means “rice” and “vapor or steam”.
Qigong exercises accelerates the amount of oxygen that you breathe. It takes the O2 and delivers it to into your body at the Atomic level.
If we believe we are made of Atoms, we know that they all have an electric charge that gives them energy – Life. When you do Qigong you are accelerating your electrons. It’s like wrapping a nail in wire and connecting the ends to a power source – you get a magnetic field.
When your electrons become accelerated, they create a magnetic field – Qi.
The body does produce this energy and it is evident in the fact that our bodies maintain a 98.6 degree temperature.
This is from the heat that is generated from our atoms.
Qigong helps us to cultivate this heat, create a strong magnetic field and help us heal ourselves and others.
This field can also be used as a weapon.
The energy comes from our bodies and the breathing exercises help us use this energy for our benefit.
