The movie that actually got me started in Martial Arts films was “The Matrix.” But some of my faverite traditional kung fu movies that I like include, “Dagger 8, Hero, Kung Fu Hustle, and The Medalion.”

I’m not a big fan of kung fu movies, but I if I had to pick one, it would be “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106770/ ), not only because it is a true story but also because the fight scenes serve to *enhance* the story as opposed to *being* the story. (I find many kung fu movies similar to pornos in that they have no real plot; they’re just a series of fight [or sex] scenes one after the other.) Also, the fighting in “Dragon…” is done at a moderate pace, which I prefer to the frenetic pace of some of the Chow-Yun Fat and Jet Li movies I’ve seen. It’s hard for me to watch fight scenes when hands and feet become a blur.
I also like the “The Karate Kid” ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087538/ ) and “Best of the Best” ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096913/ ) … Do they count?
