Buddhism is on the rise as an alternative way of thinking ethically about how we allow spirituality to guide our lives. Kung-fu won’t stop a nuclear bomb or a bullet, but it can give inner peace to those who have seen the way, and for those converts who have been led astray from traditional religion.
The many Buddhists monks that have been killed and monasteries burned to the ground for years, yet they still strive for inner peace, but I don’t see your question as a realistic solution. Buddhists are not Hollywood Kung-fu masters, while fanatics destroying the teachings of Islam are real.
