Try to listen to Miyavi (he’s solo), Ellegarden (punk-rock band), TRAX (they are Korean, but they release cd in Japanese too)… these are my favourites!
I like also hide (ex guitarist of X-Japan), Hyde (he’s the vocalist of L’Arc~en~ciel but he has also a solo career) and Sid (band).

Definitely. X-Japan, one of the most influential rock band in Japan. i think their ballad is absolutely beautiful try listen from this site http://www.iloveballad.com
