  3. I would think the word itself means someone that has no religion at all. All I know is, I feel very sorry for that atheist when Jesus comes back.

  4. the practice of sueing as a modern ritual and the practice of prclaiming your point of view and the rote denials of others rights to a view not heir own that sounds like rituals of a belief system and preaching and prostelizing all parts of a serious religion An Old dude

meditation is not just a religious practice, there are psychological benefits to clearing your mind. As for everything else, these are just moral choices. Not religious.

A religion is used to explain the unexplainable. Atheists reject the idea of a higher power and therefore don’t need an explaination of the unexplainable because there’s nothing to explain. We die, that’s it.

I’m not an atheist. Worse, I’m pagan. I see god in everything from the sunset to the rain to the change of seasons. It’s truly beautiful and have never felt closer to God.

    re·li·gion (r-ljn)

    n.

Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

however, atheism can become an organised belief structure, but since no higher deity is worshipped, it cant be considered a religion

  8. There are many “atheist” religions. Being an atheist just means that you don’t believe in a supernatural entity/god. You can believe anything you want aside from that and still be an atheist. I am a “skeptic” (some people also call skeptics, “brights”).

As for atheist religions, basically any religion that doesn’t have a god or gods could include atheists. Buddhism is considered a religion without a god. Also, Church of Virus and Humanists.

I think religions offer a social support network that could be beneficial for atheists. In the city I’m living in, we have an active secular community. We have a skeptics group, a humanist group, an atheist meet-up group, and a freethinker society.

I think your examples of meditation or admiring nature are excellent things and I do them myself. I don’t consider them part of a religion, however.

  9. What you are describing is practiced by millions of Buddhists, who are also atheists. Philosophy, contemplation, and daily exercise can benefit almost everyone. Some people feel the need for ritualistic behavior more than others, so you can make a ritual out of these if it suits you. I am an atheist, but not a Buddhist.

  10. Buddhism (buddhi means brain or wisdom literally) and Jainism fall into this category.though Buddhism does not accept god but it does deny His existence either. Buddha was just neutral and said i can not comment on something i do not understand. the Hindu sect Lokayat were out and out atheist. though it was not popular and vanished.

i think atheism is a relegion in a way even today. it has a belief . it is that god does not exist.

many of the atheist are just as fanatic like religious fanatics. they criticize all the theories about god , they pick texts from religious books out of context and twist even the positive thoughts if they want to negate it. in the name of rationality they keep on demeaning religious people and make fun without consideration. many of them forget that even if they do not believe in those things others have a rights and freedom.

many of think it is their duty to save religious people from darkness just as religious people try to save souls. though not all of them are nonreligious fanatics just as not all religious people are one.

No, I am not an Atheist. I can prove scientifically that GOD exist. The word God in the English language is GOD. A three letter word as the trinity is 666.
