Is it possible to become Enlightened?

Is it possible to become Enlightened through normal meditation? Siddhartha Gautama became the Buddha while meditating, so would it be possible for me to become one?

Meditation is a great way to clear your mind for enlightenment. And no, you will not become Budda through meditation.

Yes but it not only was because he meditated. He was free from temptation and pleasures. Could you deal without sex, food, internet, money, gambling, women, alcohol, drugs etc.. etc..

    If you can… Good Luck

It took the Buddha a pretty long time to reach Nirvana.
So I’d pack a loooong lunch if you want to reach enlightenment through meditation.

Hey! Here’s an idea?!??! Instead of sitting cross-legged all day and concentrating on your breathing, how’bout treating people with kindness, love, and forgiveness…

Worked on Jesus; and he’s a Bohidisthava!

    Enlightenment is over rated.

    Remember:
“Before Enlightenment, there is chopping wood and carrying water, after enlightenment there is chopping wood and carrying water.”

Nothing really changes and it is damn near impossible to get there…or rather you are already there and it is very difficult to realize it. I just told you right now and you don’t BELIEVE me.

I recognise the Buddha inside you. Do you?

    Also:

“If you see the Buddha on the side of the road, kill him!”

Yeah, good stuff. It didn’t stop Islam from crushing Buddism in the East, though. Really, what good is enlightenment? Why do you want to spend years meditating to discover what you already are?

I think I covered it. I’m going off to e-bay now. Later.

Yes, ask lot’s of questions, don’t be fobbed of with rubbish answers and make sure you can test the answers for accuracy. Enlightenment is finding the truth… we can’t do that by blindly accepting what other people tell us or by following old clapped out melodramatic religions.

We can know alot, read alot, and sometimes teach to others after we have accumulated enough knowledge.
Unfortuanely, the reality is that we can never be enlightened enough, otherwise we would never sin, we would be perfect.
Fortuanely, Jesus is the solution to enlightenment….
    Salvation.
