I am looking for a new exercise program and Pilates looks good, if not difficult. I would like to hear some real experiences, good and bad, using this program.
It’s a WONDERFUL program. My bf and I have a friend who’s parents run a Pilates place in South Carolina. It’s wonderful and is becomming very popular. You can buy the equiptment or you can go to the location and exercise. You really should check it out!
I’ve done some pilates in the past. I really enjoy it. I haven’t done any of the exercises on the machines, I’ve gone to the classes which are very nice. They will usually turn the lights down and have on some calm soft music (like they would for a yoga class). Pilates is similar to yoga and focuses on your “core” (mainly abs). It is great for increasing flexibility and helping to build strength in your abs, but if you are looking to lose weight it probably isn’t going to help much. I would definetly encourage you to try it out and maybe do it once or twice a week as part of your exercise routine. Or incorporate some of the positions into your warm up or cool down.
