  1. The best is RUNNING.

  2. Boxing:

    1. You will learn what it feels like to get hit, therefore take your fear away of being hit and give you the ability to react better

    2. You will become better conditioned.

    3. You will have faster reflexes

Its all fundamentals, really. When you are defending a loved one, or your own self, you want the fight to be over quickly. 9 times out of 10, it’ll be against someone with no distinct style of fighting other than brawling.

I prefer a boxing approach. Get in there, hard, powerful punches. If the dude ain’t dropped in 10-15 punches, then its time to back off and pick him apart.

Usually street fights end up in wrestling matches, which is where a judo or other kind of submission/close quarters fighting background comes in handy.

I just like to beat the snot out of the fools and go back to drinking my beer or watching my game.

Training in boxing also will build endurance and stamina.

  5. Karate. Judo is also an effective defense art.

  6. Boxing because it is a continuous sport. In a fight you won’t stop to give someone a point. In boxing if you get hurt you have to keep fighting. You have to be really tough to compete in boxing. Also because of all the sparring and long rounds you will develope really good reflexes. I’ve done Boxing, Judo, high school wrestling and Jujistsu. The boxing competition was the toughest.

  7. Running… then I would say karate over boxing any day… neat you can box… now what happens when they grab you? or kick you…. you are shit out of luck… train all aspects of fighting.

anyone who suggest wrestling is an idiot… no one is going to allow you to run to get on your “reatard” or that leotard thing you call a singlet for some good o’l man on man love. They will smash your face in as soon as you get them into the Boston crab, or try the peoples elbow, they are going to hand you your ass… stick to real martial arts… and if you want the feeling of rubbing on men still, go with Jujitsu.

  9. take karate first. then when ur good, go on to boxing, train urself, and then work with wrestling incase of grapping and close fights.

  10. Let’s see:
Boxing weapons: jab, cross uppercut, hook, overhand. Am I leaving anything out?

Karate weapons (depending on style, you are probably using the word generically) jab, cross, kook, uppercut, knife hand (inside & outside), ridge hand (inside & outside), front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, crescent kick (inside & outside) reverse kick….

    Your choice.

  12. Boxing without a doubt. Look at earlier days of UFC when it was no rules gloves or anything. Look at how karate did and look at how boxing did? Look some of the Karate vs Boxing match ups, hell they had some huge black belt from Japan in and he got knockout badly by a boxer called Patrick Smith. Karate never won – period. Boxing did well, because you are implanting technique against a resiting opponent. So you learn how to punch properly, learn how to duck weave learn how to take a punch and certainly learn how to give one.

Boxing is defiantly one of the best stand up martial arts you can do. Great way to get in shape as well.

  14. Both are stand up styles, boxers ans karate fighter would have problems on the ground. But Boxing would be the better way to go. It involves more techniques. Karate foucus on impact striking techniques. Kicks are not too damaging.

Personally I would say Karate would be better if you get into a fight as boxing doesnt use kicks obviously which can end most fights easily – a good kick to the knee cap or ribs would be better than a punch because you have less chance of getting hit. So if you are bigger than your opponent I would say boxing but if you are smaller I would say Karate (However I agree with another answer saying that stopping and going is stupid so see what sort of sparring your local Karate dojo does before wasting your money)

Give Choi Kwang Do a try. It has the strength and continuity of boxing with the speed and tradition found in Karate.

  17. We are talking real life situations here?Well without a doubt it would be karate i dont think ring fighting pops up much in real situations.as far as the lessons go do them all.they all have advantages and disadvantages depending on the situation at the time.
PS.if you do karate it should involve ground fighting its not all stand up.if not find an instructor that does.one thats past green belt.
