Why do i see 10 year olds or 14 or 16 year olds with black belts, second degree blackbelts,, or even higher. I have a feeling these american karate instructors are using belts in order to attract customers, but karate is a life process, they can’t possibly master the true essence of karate in just 4 years or something..and certainly at 16 a master…without having had maturity? I will consider a master at 40 or 50, after years of training and developing spiritually not at 10 years old.

Because that’s all you need in a street fight apparently. Or at least the guys that have been training for 10+ years (or whatever) always use that to their defense when talking about MMA. Yes we know MMA isn’t a life and death situation but it is as close to it as we can get. I would like to see some Karate Guy with 15+ years experience step into the cage of an MMA fighter who has been competing for 3 years and see who wins. Hell I’ll even say eye gouging and Ball Kicking etc. is legal. My money is on the MMA guy. Sorry

Yes it translates to supream ultimate. But I’ve been thinking what does that really mean.I think my ego missed the point for the last 10 years of training????
I was wondering really what Tai Chi’s meaning was to other people. It was not a trick question. I’ve known most of the text book answers at an intellectual level. But it really came home to me only recently that I had been looking at it from a very egotistical view point, I had got too much into the supremeness and lost the emptyness. I just wondered what different peoples own opinions were on this question. For instance is Tai Chi the same as God.By the way this is genuine exploration. I was about 8 10 years old. I think it was a tv show from japan aired here in the states. IT was live action. The name “inspector man” keeps poping into my head but no search results come up.
This guy was a superhero. Had a brown suit. He had 3 eyes one being a crystal in the middle up on his forehead. He would battle these apes/monkeys who could turn into giants.
I know he could turn into a giant. He had this sig. move. He would swing his arms in a kung fu move and he would shoot these lasers from his hands.

Hi, for the past 2 weeks my brother has been in the worst mood ever. He is 10 years older than me and my mom and I live with him. He has yelled at me and yelled at me and yelled at me and busted my chops every chance he got for the past 2 weeks. Usually he comes home after I got to bed from teaching Tai Chi, which should make you clam. But last night he started yelling at me for not knowing the exact address of my firends birthday party spot that is not until tonight, when we have the invitation on the fridge. I told him I did not remember, all I could remember was it was at the Imperial Hotel. My mom tried to get him to stop, but he kept at it. Then I asked him for an opinion on something and he growled at me that I need my own opinions and I should think for myself, which I do. Since when did opinions mean you were not an independent thinker? I just value his opinion a lot because I look up to him. My dad is not in my life and I think he has this feeling that he has to be my dad, but he doesn’t. He has to be my brother, but he is starting not to act like it. How can I tell him that I don’t appriciate the way he is treating me without being rude or appearing rude? Also what can I do if he keeps doing this? Thanks!
