Can there be an Atheist “religion”?

Are there practices of a religious nature that Atheists could practice and benefit from?

For example, meditation on compassion for all beings, or kneeling at the sight of a sunset, because of the grandeur of it all, or just making daily affirmations of good principles?

Tell me if you are an Atheist or not, and what you think?
My question should have been worded differently. I really don’t mean an organized religion. What I mean is just different Atheists who do different types of things normally associated with “religion.”
I guess what I am saying is that I think Atheists could benefit from doing certain things on a daily basis, that are normally only done by religious people. Things like daily affirmations of what one believes. The Atheist could affirm his/her goal in life, or affirm a positive outlook, or his/her concern for other people. This would help one keep his/her eye on the goal and the good things of life. I just wonder how many Atheists do anything like that?
Sasha – Buddhists are usually Atheists. Belief in a Supreme Power is NOT the defining aspect of “religion.” Religion is best defined by a list of various things, and then deciding on a certain number that must be present to consider something a “religion.”

So a list may look something like this:
Belief in a Supreme Power/s
Community
Ritual practices
Philosophy of life

No religion would have to have ALL the aspects on the list. But they would have to have more than one. That is the most appropriate way I know of to define religion.

I am NOT suggesting that Atheism be defined as a religion.

I am ONLY suggesting that Atheists might benefit from some of the things on the list.
Ah – Imrational: Finally. That’s what I’m talking about! I think I didn’t do a good job explaining what I meant by this question!

Quantum Theory/Atheist/Paranormal/Theist or any religious person please read?

ironically, I came thinking of posting this question during church and became an atheist during mass. I read this book on paranormal experiences, intuition and metaphysics and it said that you can make spirits or what with your mind. So doesn’t that mean that Christians for centuries could have made this “God” up with their thoughts? They say sometimes God doesn’t answer your prayer the way you want if it is not in his plan. When I pray, if I believe I will get what I want I get it. To make a long story short, some of the things I prayed for and recieved were not right for me but I got them anyway. So it seems as though my thoughts, attracting energy, “answered” my prayers, not any gods. I was reading a book on Chi Kung and it said how Chi is some sort of energy that you have as long as you are alive, so when you are dead it’s gone. It makes sense to me. The Bible does seem man made as with other religons. Why do people get punished for questioning their religon? (i will add details)
It seems as though there must be a reason that so many people have so many religons. Many these people have created a God or Goddess with their mind. It seems like a bunch of delusions to me. I feel more comfortable knowing that when I question reincarnation, Buddha isn’t planning on burning me up. If the Christian God loved us, then why would he not accept us all to come with us to heaven? Why would he send my friends to hell for being atheist? My atheist friends would be nice because they wanted to be. Is that not pure? It says in the Bible you should have a pure heart. What is so pure about a Christian being good to their neighbor because they fear eternal misery? I don’t understand it anymore. Keep in mind I am just a 16 year old and I had no religious education in school, but I have been reading books…I was raised Christian but studied Buddhism makes more sense, so if I say something ignorant, sorry. What do you think of the quantum theory in this sense? That people created God?
Also, I notice that my friends who are incredibly intelligent are often Atheists.
Evolution makes sense to me. Why would a God put so many so-called “delusions” in front of us? As the “secret” book said, the “secret” or the quantum theory can be found in many religons. It seems as though the more people believe in their God, the more it comes true. Maybe that is why people feel they are following the true path and don’t doubt their religon thus making this “ghost” true. Why wouldn’t evolution be true? What is God’s point of deluding us so much? People in certain regions of the world have certain similarities and similar languages. Just makes sense to me. Chinese resemble Korean and Japanese, Latinos are darker than white people. Again, I didn’t have much education on evolution either but it makes sense with all the evidence.
I REALLY DON’T LIKE HOW THE BIBLE TELLS ME MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELL FOR BEING ATHEIST.
