I have no “core” strength AT ALL whatsoever. I’ve tried yoga and pilates. The sad thing is the classes are a mixture of all levels, the even sadder thing is I don’t think I can even do BEGINNER yoga/pilate classes! I have no flexibility, I can’t do situps, I can’t reach my toes, I CAN do a minimal amount of crunches. Any advice on how I can increase my “core” strength? I am not overweight nor am I thin. Just average, slightly chubby with a small stomach. I’m 5’2 and I weight 120lbs. Any tips would be great, thanks!

I’m more interested in learning breathing and stretching. Maybe more later! Thanks!
I am a beginner martial artist with limited experience. I love Tai-Chi, but want to supplement it with a hard style like Judo or Muay Thai. A good friend of mine who has been involved in the martial arts for many years (Kenpo) says that I should stick to one for a few years and at least attain a brown belt in one art first. What do you think?

I’m now in Sofia, Bulgaria and left tai chi classes I took for 2 and 1/2 years in Austin, Texas with Tom Gohring’s school. I’d like to start practice again (I’m beginner level, second level–gold sash). I also do some Golden Crane qigong (taught English in China) and longtime Ananda Marga yoga practice.- Jenell
