I was wondering if a person who has achieved a 9th degree black belt in Taekwondo and should be called a grandmaster, would use this title in everyday life instead of Mister, Doctor, or Misses?
I’m not a 9th degree black belt. I’m just a 1st degree. I was just curious because my instructor is an 8th or 9th degree black belt, but still uses the title Master.

My Taekwondo school says they do not have degrees after black belt first degree. Did anyone ever here of that?

The belt rankings seem to be based on doing certain tricks rather than fighting ability. If even little kids can learn to break boards, then it certainly isn’t about fighting ability. Some people make it sound like a six year old with a white belt could take on the best street fighter. By traditional standards, you’d actually have to be a first degree black belt just to be considered a novice. Karate is not some kind of magical skill that makes you invincible, as seen on tv.

A few months i fractured both of my legs in my karate class now one of my legs is bascially healed but one is still fractured not bad enough to stay on crutches but now i have nerve damage also doc told me not to do karate anymore for a while and then ease back into it if i ever can but my test for my second degree black belt is coming up and i’m going to miss it if i dont heal fast. does anyone know to make a fractured and nerve damaged leg heal faster?
I have a friend that I have known for about a year and a half. We both do TaeKwonDo together. And I just realized that I think I like him. The only thing is that he is two years younger than me. I’m in 10th and he is in 8th. I am also a higher rank then him. He is a brown belt and I am a 1st degree level 3 black belt. And there is NO WAY that I am going to tell him that I like him, because last time I told a guy that I liked him he didn’t like me back and it was just awkward. What should I do?
