Is this a good paragraph?

Everyone has special interests, ranging from such a diverse activities as ballroom dancing to martial arts. For some people, the practice of martial arts is a good physical exercise, mental exercise and an excellent program for developing discipline. Moreover, martial artists enjoy martial arts because this sport is actually a way of life, diligently practiced day after day. Several hundreds of years ago, the Japanese developed martial art forms to protect themselves against the invading forces of China. Martial arts then developed as a sport throughout the world, becoming a hobby for many people, in the form of different styles. For example, some people often enjoy practicing Tae kwon do, whereas others like to practice Okinawa Karate and still others practice Tai chi. Martial arts is practiced as a discipline since it brings mental health as well as physical conditioning. Furthermore, participating in this sport during leisure time never becomes a tiring, routine activity; instead, the practice of these sports always sustains a “new car smell” for the practitioner. Finally, this sport creates an adrenaline rush, which enthralls the “6” senses, and makes time fly by. Who would not want such a healthy and exciting hobby?

I need it for my high school writing class

Which one is better? Karate, Taekwondo or KungFu??

It would be interesting if people spare with others from different martial arts discipline….

Kung Fu, Juijitsu, or TKD?

Thinking of taking a martial arts. These three are what i’ve narrowed it down to. I’m looking for self-defense. I’m 5-7″ and grew up a baseball athlete. I’m looking something that teaches discipline and patience along with the physical aspect. Grew up being picked on by bigger people. I want to be able to defend myself and my wife if need be. Any suggestions and comments are welcome. Serious answers only please.

Martial arts? Which one for my son?

My son is 6 years old. He is a small boy and I want to get him into the Martial Arts. My family is big on Kenpo…but I don’t know much about it. If I ask them they will say Karate is the only thing for him. Are there other types of karate or just one? What about other styles? I want him to learn discipline, respect, and self-confidence. He will be growing up in a family of TALL people all 6’0 and above. He will only be 5’8…..mmmmaaaaybe. I want him to be comfortable with his frame and earn the advantages that come with his size. Perhaps a style that focuses on balance and agility instead of strength or aggression? Any help or information would be appreciated.

Whats the difference between a sport and a discipline?

Sports are more like soccer, football, jogging, wrestling…
Disciplines are more like Tai Chi, Yoga, Kung Fu,…
But… what makes a discipline a discipline and a sport a sport… what makes them distinctly different?
I’m not happy with any of the answers. Tai Chi and Yoga have nothing to do with combat skills…
