Is there some way I can learn to meditate w/o taking a class….?

I’ve checked the two nearest community colleges. One has a yoga class that incorporates meditation into the class, but I don’t know how much. And the other has a fitness center where you can practice yoga, but no classes. I not only want, but need a stronger mind. I want stronger focus and the ability to not think about the stupid crap that gets on my nerves. Don’t say “join the Marine Corps,” because that was my one wish in life ever since I was in 7th grade (13 years old). I say this because I’m on medication for an anxiety disorder and the Marines nor Army nor Navy nor Coast Guard will admit you unless you’ve been off medication for a certain period of time. There were other reasons I wanted to join the Corps, not just to strenghten my mind and body, but I can’t even be off these meds for more than two days w/o ill shit happening. I think meditation is the key. What do I have to do??

How can you Love/Like Yourself if you Don’t?

I’ve gotten alot of advice on this from previous ?’s, but feel the answers were general and not applying to me.

I get the point of needing to get life in order, but I didn’t like myself even when it was in order. or when in better physical, financial, etc shape. So I know doing that won’t get me to like myself, it’ll merely remove more years from my life just to get me back here.

So, how does one like themselves. I respect what I spiritually, even if such a mix of multiple faiths makes me isolate from others. My problem is of the few interestts i’ve had (hiking, chatting, video games, and meditation, they’re all solo activities). I can’t seem to find one that involves contact with other persons. I have explored hundreds of ideas that involve others, but find it replusive.

I guess in the end I get tired of hearing the same advice which hasn’t helped and which only removes more time from life. I don’t wanta be 5-15 yrs older and still at same point. It’s just a lost life

why isnt my diet and exercise plan working??

I eat a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Don’t eat after 7pm. I work out everyday for about an hour (usually fast walk for 30 min and 30 min on the eliptical). It’s been about 3 weeks and I’m not seeing any results. What am I doing wrong????

I need to lose 25 lbs. Does anyone have any other better ideas??

Is it proper for a guy with martial arts to defend 2 bullies picking on a less fortunate guy ?

Especially if he can’t defend himself, who’s a nice guy, gets along with others. Classes begin next month. He’s working this summer to make money to pay another student with martial arts skills, to defend him if it comes to that. I say the karate guy should disable the 2 bullies the first time around, break some bones, hands especially! If the bullies continue their bullying, more serious karate should be used. Don’t you agree!
I’m not talking about myself! Its the guy I know who’s being picked on. I would intercede if the karate guy wasn’t available at a time he was needed. Besides, you hit or kick the enemy in a certain area and he’ll hit the ground in pain! pain! pain!
