Taekwondo Question…?

Why does everyone say TKD is acrobatic and only focuses on useless aerial kicks?

1 – Do you realize that demos are flashy just to attract new people? Would you sit through a demo where people only punched and kicked at the air, belt high or lower, and never did anything ‘flashy’?

2 – Aerial kicks are a part of the curriculum, but they are not the focus. In TKD there are 6 ways to apply a kick – and ‘aerial’ encompasses only one of those ways. At that, aerial kicks may not be as effective as another type of kick, but I can guarantee that they are effective.

Don’t get me wrong, there are bad schools out there. Please stop saying that all bad schools belong to TKD. ALL martial arts have their bad apples.
Um, you can’t take the UFC as a ‘real’ proving ground, because they don’t ptractice one style. In the old UFC, before the martial arts got mixed, TKD and Karate usually won their matches quickly. It wasn’t until the Gracies became popular that TKD/Karate started losing ground…

Why do most women overlook Asian men?

It seems like most women are not interested at all in dating Asian men…even other Asian women. Everyone goes straight for the White guy. The thing is, I know that Caucasian men are, in general, more physically attractive, but do people care about anything other than looks? It’s sad that there are pretty much no Asian men in the media aside from the kung-fu master or totally ugly nerd. We’re never portrayed in an attractive manner…it’s so degrading and depressing. It’s really depressing how many Asian women refuse to date Asian guys…it’s almost like self-racism…most White and Hispanic women seem to be the same. I’ve heard about this among the gay Asian male community as well…that Asian guys usually refuse to date other Asian guys. What is going on? I guess physical attraction is the only thing that counts. Well…maybe not…but sometimes I get this feeling. I’m not bitter, but sometimes I am frustrated.

I’m turning 20 this May 2007, can I still grow 2.5 more inches?

Hi everyone! I’m turning 20 this year. I want to be 5’4″. My dad is 5’8″ and my mom is 5’2.5″. I’m the eldest and I’m like the shortest. I’m only 5’1.5″ and I’m 137 lbs so that makes me overweight. Will I be able to reach my goal(5’4″) if I lose like 40 lbs and do Pilates?

Please help, I need all the help I could possibly get. Just no operations. I’ve seen it on National Geographic and it’s too desperate.

mixed martial arts and tae kwon do?

both MMA and TKD are sport oriented (although taekwondo at its heart really isn’t just nowadays many people think it is). They both have rules, they both have a ring, and they both have many sport oriented schools. however, everyone bashes taekwondo, saying it is “too sport oriented,” when really it was started as a combat system in Korea. MMA, however, was MADE for sports. so why do people bash TKD and not MMA? i just don’t understand it, if you can shed some light on it i would appreciate it.
