do you really think self defence for women would work in an actual crisis?

think about it, if u were actually being mugged would you be thinking “oh yeh, i remember this time in self defence where i did this” and then throw the guy to the ground. you would naturally panic and scream your lungs out. only the determined and focused would concentrate on escaping. agree?
i have that quality and i am learning taekwondo

Why is there no people in the ufc with taekwondo or hapkido background?

Almost all of Taekwondo’s kicks have been used successfully in the ufc except the acrobatics one and taekwondo has more than just kicks in it arsenal.Hapkido is taught in a lot of taekwondo places in Korea. Hapkido has a lot of the same moves as jujitsu and some style of hapkido cover ground fighting.

Why is it that Americans will think the Samurai as the strongest warrior in the East back then?

I would say is the monks from shaolin temple. They train from they r kids. Their training is very disciplined and tough. The know how to use a whole arsenal of weapons. They train so hard…the concrete ground actually lumps in after years of stomping on the same spot! How can a samurai stop a monk who is spinning a spear head attached to a rope 180 miles/hour? Watch Kill Bill 2? Shaolin monks and other masters of kung fu toys with samurai’s skills.

But Americans in general like Samurai (ex: the last samurai). Why is that?

If it’s about their lifestyle then please realize that the lifestyle resembles the ones of monks in shaolin, just no women.

What are some good Internal Martial Arts That Are Effective?

I know theres Tai Chi Wing Chun and Aikido Can you list anymore??? and what each one emphasizes (locks, strikes, ground submission, etc)

how do you root yourself to the ground on both legs when you punch?

In kung-fu as well as other martial arts styles, you root yourself to the ground on both feet and twist your hips and punch. Say if I’m in a 50/50 stance (50% of weight on one leg and 50% of the other) I can’t feel the root on my legs and feet. I feel that the root is more right down between my legs and feet. Same thing applies to the bow stance and horse stance.

In contrast, in boxing, where you root on one leg only and pivot the other, you can feel the connection to the ground on that one leg.

But in kung-fu with two legs trying to root, you can’t feel the root. It’s more down the center between your legs and feet.
