Why do people hate Taekwondo so much?

Why do people hate Taekwondo so much? I mean…it’s just like any other martial art. I take Taekwondo and nothing is wrong with that. What is the reason? I don’t understand that. Everyone thinks that Taekwondo is just a bunch of flashy kicks. Can you prove that? Have you ever seen Taekwondo, the original, (not just the olympic sport) in hand to hand combat? What’s your opinion about Taekwondo and why?
But remember, I’m not talking about Mcdojos.
I’m talking about the real thing. Especially in Korea. In Korea, they take it seriously. Just like any other martial art.

how do I learn good hand to hand combat that will give me a basic knowledge of reversals and locks?

I am not really interested in kung fu or any type of martial art, I more would like to learn some basic form of hand to hand combat that will enable me to reverse strikes and grabs and that have certain locks. I more want to be able to defend myself and my family, I also want to learn firearms, but you cant always have a firearm on hand.

Is Shaolin Kung Fu a good fighting art for actual hand to hand combat?

Is it good for slim, light, flexible people?

Am I able to train and learn nin-jitsu on my own?

its very hard too from my expierence especially when you have no teacher to know wether your even training right… there is no local schools were i live either….I take karate but im desperate to quit that and just find a ninjitsu school. It is also extremely hard trying to master the 18 skills. Im traning in tai-jutsu (hand to hand combat) by taking karate but im not sure if karate is the appropriate way to train tai-jutsu. I also know some of kuji-in and am studying chi-kung with chi techniques and stuff and train for kinesis. I try to read books and stuff without drills since there are no partners i have to train with. This is just really hard and stressful…. How would you reccomend for me to learn? how can I do this without a sensai? am I doing this right? And another thing… how the heck is a 14 year old like me guna find a horse to ride for the art of horsemans ship? I dont have many martial arts weapon stuff either for all those nin jutsu weapon drills either…

Does this seem like a possibility to you?

I’m bored so I thought I’d get something off my chest, even if it is only half of my total argument/theory. For years before the first UFC, and especially thanks to legends like Bruce Lee, it seems to me that specific Chinese Martial Arts (Kung Fu one of the biggest) were often boasted as the ultimate hand to hand combat system. Tons of times do I remember hearing about certain Chinese MA and Kung Fu heroes described as unstoppable even compared by today’s MMA and MA standards. So what I’m getting at is, doesn’t it seem like the mysticism behind Kung Fu and other Chinese MA’s today has been shown (maybe even proven) to be not as top of the line and other worldly as it once was compared to the MMA of today with its heavy emphasis on Kickboxing and Jujitsu? How come there really hasn’t been one living legend since Bruce Lee who has been proven to possess a form of Wing Chun or Kung Fu or whatever that can destroy the other fighting and sparring legends that goes by more than word of mouth?! Why this comes together for me is because not once have I read about or seen any mixed martial arts (any form goes) league with a strict practicioner of Kung Fu, Wing Chung, tai chi, ect. that can come up and whoop a league of fighters revolving on the normal MMA forms. You could easily just say that they don’t want to go into events like this because they are largely outside of China and maybe they aren’t into all-out hard-sparring events, but then can any of them continue to claim that their Chinese/Asian (possibly ancient) form of MA is overall superior to any current MMA form or combo of forms? Can anyone put up more than words to back up what I’m saying is wrong or ignorant, or is the current forms of MMA possibly superior to the mystical Asian forms of MA we’ve been hearing about since we were young?….
