pilates! how to do it?

people always say that jogging will slim u down and stuff like that. i tried it out during the hols and instead of slimming my thighs/claves/butt, it simply made me gain muscle! i don’t want to gain muscle! according to various sources, pilates is a effective way to slim legs yet not gain muscle. is this true? if it is, how do i do them (pilates)?

how long it would take to see results if I do pilates once a day for 20-30 minutes?

I’m sort of getting sick of walking so much and jogging/running. I’m eating healthy though, for the most part, and I try to have 1200-1500 calories a day but there’s a day or two I go a little over.

I’m trying to lose 20 pounds and I’m 5’3″ and 140 pounds. I’m also considering doing 30 minutes of jump roping everyday.

is crunching and pilates equivalent to jogging on the treadmill?

I used to have severe lower backpain, at first I used to do some excercises like jogging, yoga, with the pain I stopped, I only walk when I want to excercise, I don’t want to stay idle.

Whats the difference between a sport and a discipline?

Sports are more like soccer, football, jogging, wrestling…
Disciplines are more like Tai Chi, Yoga, Kung Fu,…
But… what makes a discipline a discipline and a sport a sport… what makes them distinctly different?
I’m not happy with any of the answers. Tai Chi and Yoga have nothing to do with combat skills…
