In karate classes, they teach jump kicks. and in taekwondo too. The UFC dudes who try jump kicks always fail thus the UFC thinks jump kicks are a waste of time.
Then why Karate and Taekwondo and many eastern martial arts still teach them ..and i think they regard them as efficient.
I’m still waiting to see a 5 foot nothing Chinese dude jump into the ring, remove his glasses and defeat some 300 lb monster by using their own power against them or by conjuring up a whole buttload of Chi to put them in their place. I’m sure they could donate their prize money to a charity to offset any bad Karma they may earn from fighting.
The Shaolins aren’t above putting on shows for money. Why not enter MMA and use the prize money to feed the starving or build a new temple or get laser eye surgery for the old guy?
BTW, I was only using the 5 foot versus 300lb thing to make a point. I understand weight divisions as I teach kickboxing and Boxing.
I take Taekwondo and long enough to know the limits of my body. The ankle weights are mainly going to be used for daily routine activites and some static slow exercises. Would this still have a negative effect on my ligaments and joints? If so are there any other suggestions on how to improve speed and vertical jump besides plyometrics?
Thanks~
I am a 15 year old female with no injury history. I am
a martial artist in mainly Taekwondo but I have
dabbled in other martial arts. I am currently in Korea
for Taekwondo training.
I have been training in Taekwondo since I was born
practically (my family owns a couple tkd schools).
I have been training in Korea for a month now and have started working on the 540 under the supervision of two members of K Tigers. I am currently 130 lb and 5’5″
My goal is to do a 540 spinning hook. So I need to
increase my vertical jump drastically and my speed
also. The speed needs to come from the feet as well as
the hips.
I also want to ask about the efficiency of weights.
(ankle weights etc.) Do wearing them while climbing
stairs and regular routine help?
