What would you recommend: tai chi or kickboxing? Why?

I’m about to start training. I have to choose between Tai chi and kick boxing. Which one do you believe would provide more action, better workout, and a better self-defense course? I’m overweight but I’m agile and good with my legs. I have never done any martial art before. Please be specific explaining your choice. Thanks.

Question about working out?

The past few months, I have been working out like a maniac. I do yoga, pilates, and run a mile every day. And the only difference I have noticed are my legs. They feel a LOT more muscular, but the rest of my body just feels the same. I actually feel worse than I did before I started working out. Sometimes I feel better, and feel like I look better when I do nothing at all. Is this normal when people first start working out?

Is there a way I myself can wash a kung fu uniform set in satin acetate?

Its my understanding I have to get it drycleaned. But I dont want to waste my money on that. Is there anyway I could clean it myself. I just used it yesterday and to all martial artists that do preformances its great. It looks cool for preformances and it is practicly impossible to rip on a high kick or something because it slides along your legs to prevent it. Also its good for sparring as it distracts your oponent , makes you a slippery target, and its light as a feather. But anyways Im getting off topic. Can I wash it myself?
Thanks for the help. Can somebody tell me how much it costs to have things like that dry cleaned on average. I never really have had to use a dry cleaner.

Is it normal to have leg cramps after Tai Chi?

I practiced Tai Chi from a video series yesterday, and now my legs are killing me. I had to jump out of bed this morning, b/c my leg felt like it was being stretched inside.

Help Toning up w/o diet?

I want to tone up and define my legs and butt mostly. I also would like to define my arms more w/o bulk. I eat 2-3 times a day, a regular portion, and 1 serving of food. (no special meals only what i want) I am not a candy or junk eater. I was wondering if i work out 4 times a week and jog 3 times out of that week with 3lbs weights, will i tone and define my body w/o muscle bulk in the next two months. Any suggestions?

Oh yea i do pilates 4 times out that week also.
