Which Kung Fu style should i take?

so i’ve been wanting to take up another martial arts class- i havent been in one for years- and i’ve decided on kung fu, mainly because of a long childhood interest and it’s cheaper than all the karate classes and stuff.
so i know that i want to take Kung fu now. but there’s 2 different schools that i can choose from- i understand it’s how you practice the art that matters, but i want to know which one i should take that will suit me the most

on one hand there is the Shaolin kung fu school- they also offer some praying mantis style and tai chi

but then there’s the other one- Plum Blossom kung fu. choy li fut?

i want something that’s aggressive, and all about combat. i see some styles are -forgive the rudeness- more along the lines of sport or dancing and i dont want that.

i called the two places and the shaolin place told me to come down and take a look but the other school said they are Not wushu and they are about combat- but if i want to check it out i gotta buy a 3 month trial period!

so yea- im looking for cool kicks/punches/spinykicks

any help would be great
Alright! thanks for the replies so far- yea, i thought it was pretty sketchy that the choy li fut Plum Blossom class wants 3 months in advance too
im going to check out the Northern Shaolin one tonight hopefully

that’s the link

i just want to make sure it’s not more of a wushu class- i want strikes and combat :)

What are the benefits of an adult starting a martial arts class?

My kids’ taekwondo instructor is starting a family class and would like me to try it out. Do adults get much out of class? Are there any benefits really? Is it possible to be too old for a martial arts class??

Who sets the standard?

I was rather appalled after witnessing what I believe to be what shouldn’t be after observing a TaeKwonDo class in progress taking place at the local YMCA. I’ve never seen such a blatent watered-down excuse for a martial arts class in my life. I’ve seen six-year old yellow belts who demonstrate better technique than some of these so called black belts. ( Instructor included) I seriously hope that this is just an anomaly of sorts in regards to the particular orginazation with which this class is affiliated. I keep coming across the term “Mcdojo” I think this class probabaly isn’t worthy even to be esteemed on that level. It’s wrong! Just wrong, I tell you.
