I think my friend’s 10 year old son broke his big toe, read the story for more details and to enter your input

My friend just got her kids back out of foster care in Jan 06, the kids were ages 8 and 10. Well, the kids were taken for “dirty house” issues. My friend has cleaned her house and is doing great! Well, the other day while she was napping, the 10 year old was playing with the 8 year old in the middle of the den. According to the 10 year old, he was gonna karate kick his 8 year old bro, the 8 year old drawed up his knee to his stomach, like a crouching position in self defense, (to block the kick) well the older boys foot hit the knee and they heard a small pop, and the older boy went crying to his mom. she felt it was broke and had her neighbor (a veteran 22 year R.N) to look at it. She thought it was broke too, but said that they don’t usually put cast on, the only thing a doc could do is make a diagnosis and administer pain medicine. My friend is scared to take the boy to the hospital because of past dealings with Child Protective Services, they just left her alone. What can she do?!!
The boy is able to walk on it and isn’t in any big pain as long as he doesn’t put too much pressure on his toe. he has been going to school and is doing good.

how to deal with anxiety?

hi, i’ve been dealing with general anxiey, social anxiety where i get very easily embarassed, and situational depression for like 7 years, and a problem i’ve been having for quite some time that is really bad now is feeling horrible if some one criticizes me especially my character because i pride myself on always trying to being polite, i go out of my way to help people and have often had my heart crushed for wearing it on my sleeve too much. anyways someone whom i really liked as a friend(kind of a mother figure) and thought we were getting along well and really looked up to her, started being really rude to me her daughter like 25 times worse, i confronted her finally, and she responded that i was the one being rude saying that i was mad at her becuase of something she did a month ago when i wasn’t even mad at all and told her so then and a couple weeks ago. it doesn’t make any sense in my mind i’ve been nothing but nice to her and her family and this is what happens? i don’t understand. Anyways i’ve been having really bad anxiety and cannot seem to stop thinking about it. They’re so mean to me lately for like two weeks and i need to grow out of this way of thinking because it effects everything i do. i get a negative thought and cannot shake it, only time heals it seems. I was wondering do you have any suggestions for relaxation methods or classes like chinese medicine( tai chi, yoga, etc.) and how i could get started in something like this, maybe i’ll put this in another question. any suggestions appreciated

do you think child support is “enough” in a child’s life?

i am curious as to how many single dads out there not only pay child support but also help out in other expenses like sports, ballet wear, club fees for these sports, shoes and school clothes. my ex is just now buying stuff for the kids but it’s like a package of underwear and one outfit for their birthday. AND he wont let them take these things home. i asked him to help with the extras he said no that he pays child support and that is enough. it is support, to support these kids in basic life. the extras, is extras. think about it, he pays about $500 a month in support (this is not actual amount, just an example) and that is “his part”. and i MATCH that plus provide shelter, clothes, electric, water, medicine, school supplies, birthday parties, ballet lessons, karate lessons, ballet outfits, karate outfits, new shoes about every 6 months …the list goes on! and we are “co” parents!?!? i raise our children, he “babysits”every other weekend. is this normal single dad behavior?
oooooooooo and yes i work, forgot to include that for the smart arses who think that i dont. like i said i MATCH his money and i triple it with extra income. so how can we be called EQUAL parents when we’re not!! i pay more and i do more. are there single dads who understand that??are there single dads out there who override the court order and do more. i want to know if those kind of dads exsist?
miss m the answerd to this question speak volumes, this question was to SINGLE DADS who give more. and not one single dad has posted lmao. and my ex refuses to see the kids other than the court ordered days so he wouldnt accept full custody. this is about my child’s welfare and the expense it takes to take care of them. my concern MAKES me a perfect mother. i homeschool, i work from home, i take care of them, provide all the love andattention to them. why dont you get pregnant and pop out a kid before you begin to even think you know what makes a loving mother. i have four kids. all under 9, from this one man. grow up missm. i dont hate men, i’m raising two boys to be two men. what i find ironic is that so far no single dad has answered whether or not they are an above and beyond kind of dad!

Google Tech Talk May 17, 2010 ABSTRACT Meditation as Medicine: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction An Approach to Stress Reduction, Chronic Pain and Illness Presented by Bob Stahl. The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and featured in Bill Moyer’s series “Healing and the Mind.” This program is specifically designed for people living with stress, pain or illness, and supports individuals as well as the work of therapists and other caregivers.
