What is pilates?

Is it like yoga? I’m a Jehovas Witness so I don’t want anything like yoga(you know the whole relaxation on a higher plane or w/e stuff). Is it just exercise, or does it have that relax, clear your mind stuff too? Mainly what is it all about? Thank you!

Benefits of meditation?

I have many problems with a racing mind, keeping focus, aggrevation and alot of anger. I find that if I get upset, I tend to go off and then I cant stop thinking about it, like it lingers over me. Then I find that out of no where it’ll pop up in my mind for no reason, taking me back to the bad feelings I felt when it happened. Wether it be embarasment, anger or guilt. Like something that was embarassing that happened a long time ago, even years, can just pop in my head out of no where. Then I’ll remember the bad feelings that I did when it happened and more or less just relive it.

I have heard that meditation wether it be from just a sitting form, Tai Chi, Yoga and even walking/jogging can help. Just meditation in general. But for someone like me, I cant see how just a 30 minute to an hour a day session of a form of meditation can help me out at all times. If someone can explain how this works, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

How do you focus – channel – meditate – gather your inner chi, or life force ?

How do you focus – channel – meditate – gather your inner chi, or life force ? i know of the tai chi movements and shaoli movements, but what do you do with your mind? concentrate on what or do what?

Any martial art ideas?

Im looking for a martial art that connects the mind and body, or something like that. Ive heard tai chi is good, but id like to have more options. A peaceful martial art that still teaches kata’s and stuff like that, or any kind of fighting. Is there any kind of kung fu like that or something? Would tai chi be the best? I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE YOGA. I want some kind of martial art. ANY suggestions would help.

Does anyone know how/if it is possible to integrate Siddha Yoga with Christianity without losing God’s grace?

Although not a religion per say, Siddha yoga believes that God is everywhere, in everything and in all of us. He pervades the universe and lies in our subconcious mind waiting to be discovered through deed meditation by calming and focusing the mind. They believe that there were/are Gurus who exist (Jesus being one of them) that can unlock the kundalini (hidden energy) that lies dormant at ones lower back, essentially awakening God in all of us. I have been a Catholic the first half of my life. I am now 29, have a new son I am going to baptize and just want to see if anyone knows of any conflicting issues that could arise by embracing both entities. Again, I still only believe in one God. I just feel like Christianity may shun upon use of meditation (which is much like prayer) to get closer to God. Anyone have any advise? Thank you and God Bless!
