If you live in the NYC area, and you get bullied a lot?

And if you are looking to learn a little self-defense over the weekend, I’ll be really happy if you say, “Yes.”

A little about me. I’m 19 years old, and although I’m a peaceful guy, I know a little bit about martial arts. I did taekwondo for 3 years when I was 12-15 years old, and I was more skilled than many of the black belts and junior instructors by the time I left. However, even after I left, I was unsatisfied with the power of my strikes, and I punched trees until my parents agreed to buy me a punching bag right away. From there my striking and my knowledge of ranges improved greatly.

When I was 17 I sparred with my friend who took boxing and iron-shirt chi-kung, and I won by technical knockout with a roundhouse kick.

Right when I started university, I saw that my school had a judo team. I joined right away, and was blown away by the explosive power of even the green belt judoka. It’s been two years since I first started judo, and I have three bronze medals and one silver medal in the novice competitions for local to regional tournaments.

If you answer Yes, I will PM you telling you where and when to meet me (it will be a very, VERY public location, a recreational park filled with people all the time). Depending on the number of people that say yes, I will be charging between $5 and $20 for one hour.

How to train with a REAL Shaolin martial monk, in a REAL temple or monastery?

I have looked all over the internet. One of the few 34th generation Monk i can find teaches in NYC, although is close to me as i live in Massachusetts.. its classes.. not a live and train temple. Same goes for every other true Shaolin Kung Fu school, they are all like the schools here that teach anything else, with MUCH skeptisizm that true Shaolin Kung Fu and Principles are taught in those schools.. I believe Shi Yan Ming in NYC is one of the few who teaches the real thing.. but weekly class schedules.. not a monastery. The real temple in China has become a tourist attraction from what i’ve read and seen, and although training goes on there, being American i don’t think I can just show up and learn… at least not without a lot of money. I am looking for the TRUE lifestyle.. not classes a few days a week.. with tuition and level systems… this country is full of Karate classes.. true Shaolin Kung Fu seems extremely rare… I want to study Buddhism, Chi Gong, and true Gung Fu, i want to CHANGE MY LIFE drastically… and the kung fu classes i have taken aren’t going to do it. Where can i find a real Shaolin Temple that is open to foreigners? Thank you very much for your help
thank you very much.. this is the first useful bit of information anyone has given me.. in fact, most of it has been insults… haha so i thank you for that, and will look into it.

i put this in many sections to target different groups of people.. i did not ask for your criticism.. clearly none of you have any authority on the subject.. this is why i want to find a Shaolin monastery.. the world is full of judgmental people.
and for the record.. Buddhism IS a religion there, buddy. : )
