Dim Mak…Do you believe it works?

I’ve trained with some excellent kung fu artists, but I’ve always questioned Dim Mak (the use of pressure points to subdue or incapacitate an opponent). Don’t get me wrong, I see an accupuncturist and he believes it works, but hearing about it is one thing. Here’s a “National Geographic like” show that demonstrates it if you’re unfamiliar with the concept…

Oh…And if you do believe it works, have you experienced someone use it on you?

Best martial art for a real life street fight?

I was wondering what would be the best martial art to study for defence and offence against the average ‘thug’ i am 14 and tall enough for my age and are quite agile. Also when would be a good time to stop fighting if the opponent is losing and when to run away.I was thinking of taking Taekwondo or Jeet Kune Do,thanks in advance
Its not adults that are the problem its the wanna be hard teenagers

tai chi push hands me vs. 400lbs? for pro push hand players ?

im 210lbs and 5’10″. my opponent is 400lbs and 6’3″
what are my options against him? how can i neutralize and beat him if he has such a massive strength? best strategy?
by the way, its fixed push hands, so u have to stay in the stance and not move around.

My son has been taking TaeKwonDo for a while now. He enjoys it, but we’ve hit a snag…can some help?

As far as learning form and technique, he’s having no trouble at all. He can remember forms, different stances and movements. He enjoys sparring, and can’t wait to get to class every day. He eagerly puts on his sparring gear, walks up proudly to face his opponent in these little practices they have…then it happens…

He gets kicked in the stomach, or in the face, or in the side because he isn’t quite aggressive enough. He’s very passive, and seems to lack self confidence. Once the realization comes that he got hit (painful or not) he starts crying and begins cowering away from his opponent.

The teacher addresses this, naturally by telling him to stop crying and fight back…hard! He reminds him that if he’s attacked on the street by someone who wants to beat him senseless and take his wallet, that his attacker will not care if he starts crying, nor take pity on him.

My son is eleven, and he’s so ashamed of his frequent crying . Any advice to help him stop when he gets kicked?

What style…?

What martial arts style is based around using the weak points on the opponent’s body when the opponent is attacking, moving, or defending? I’m not talking about pressure points, but using the opponent’s movement against them? Lets say the opponent were to take steps with the right foot facing forward and you attack a specific point on the body to harm the opponent or make the advisory immobile? Also the style uses the environment to his/her advantage and uses specific attacks pending on the opponent’s size, weight, and body type against them; during specific times of the day, week, or year?

I was thinking Tai-Chi, but I wasn’t sure.
