Anyone (and Many Moons) can answer. What do you think of when you hear that term? Are there other atheists/agnostics who consider themselves spiritual? If so, please share? What makes you spiritual?
Speaking for myself, I am spiritual cuz I try to glean wisdom from the various religions, their teachers (e.g. Jesus & Buddha) and sacred texts of the world and apply to my Path if I feel it will help me grow—along with the sciences and philosophies. I occasionally do self-meditation and hand-written spells at my altar to help me focus on my issues to solve a problem (carried over from my past exposure with paganism). I do believe I have a soul—but differ on how I ‘got it’. I also believe that I have a “relationship” with my Inner Conscience.
Mathematican seems to hit the nail on the head—the term ‘spiritual’ has two definitions (theistic and nontheistic). I am using the term in a non-theistic way.
Hassan, good Q. ‘Soul’ is what I consider to be inside my head, like a personality. I do not consider myself to be “god”. I don’t think one has to believe in “god” in order to believe in souls. My soul is not given to me by any “god”. My soul was a product of my life experiences–it grew with me over the years. Hope this clarifies. Also, anyone—if you are to email me from here, PLEASE be sure your email address is valid so I can respond from YA. :->
