Can Pilate’s tone up stomach muscles?

I have chronic pelvic pain and hence cannot really do any strenous exercise. I need to tone my stomach up though and was wondering if pilates would help do that.
I am 5’3″ and weigh 105lbs, my belly isn’t flat though, so thats all I need to work on.

How do I work my stomach muscles without hurting my back?

I pulled something in my back a few weeks ago. I think it was due to doing Pilates. It was really good for working my stomach, but now I’m afraid to hurt my back again. What kinds of exercises can I do without injuring my back?
