How does a person exercise properly?

Trying to get fit before going on trip through the outback. Been very unfit and a smoker for looooong time though! Trying to get half hour exercise done daily (swimming, jogging and tai chi soon hopefully) and trying to quit smoking. Just worried that I’m going to overexert my self! I dont think I’m being unrealistic eg, I’m pushing myself but not absolutely killing myself, but does this sound like too much exercise for someone who has done sh@g all physical activity since school?? How do I exercise sensibly?
Hey Guy- let me underline- for the past 10 years have got pi$$ed, smoked cigarettes and weed and done no strenuous physical activity at all!!!!! I AM PUSHING MYSELF!!! I bet youre one of those guy who go to the gym all the time and say things like “Dude, I’m really pumped”. Pah!!

im trying to get myself in shape this summer so when summers over i wanna be able to look good….would the best exercise be swimming or pilates? and does anyone know what kind of exercises to do to slim down upper arms?

What are some great exercises to do to improve my swimming?

I swim on a team called NOVA, and I swim 6-7 days a week EVERY week. I love the adrenilane rush of swimming and I work really really hard in practice. Since I have moved up recently, my meet times have been getting REALLY GOOD and I want to get EVEN BETTER. I do pilates every week and I run every other day. What are some more exercises to help me swim even faster???
