weight loss plan?

I’m 23 years old, 5’5, and 140/145 lbs. I want to start on an exercise plan alternating treadmill/eliptical walking and Pilates. I’d like to lose at least 20 lbs., preferably down to a size 5 or 7.
Can someone suggest a plan? How often should I do each of these? I was thinking walking 3 days a week and Pilates 2 or 3. I have to be realistic…I don’t think I’d make it to the gym everyday.
Thanks!

I was thinking about taking a karate class but I am uncomfortable walking around barefoot. Does being barefoot in the class serve a purpose? If so I would rather comply with the study of the art. Why is this the case?
