Definitely walk through Central Park, take it all in. It is breath-takingly beautiful, it really is.
Also for a poetry reading you can check out the Bowery Poetry Lounge, I think the cover charge is like 8 or 10 bucks but its pretty cool there. If you have any poetry of your own your name can be put on the list and you get in for free, thats what my teacher told me, he emcees there on Saturdays.

Go to the Green Market in Union Square….get food and have lunch right there.
Take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry.
Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge….on the Brooklyn Side go to
Grimaldi’s for Pizza
Go to the Cloisters.
Go to MOMA on a Friday afternoon…when its free.
Go shopping in Century 21.
Go to Astoria for Greek food. Try Taverna Klyclides on Ditmars…take the R train to the last stop…its about 2 blocks away.
Walk around the Lower East Side….thats where the locals hang.
Walk…walk…walk…
Have a dirty water dog from a street vendor.
Take the subway.
Have fun.

get a Metrocard and just get lost in the city…hop on and off random subway stops and just explore the neighborhoods. Who knows…maybe you’ll discover something (restaurant, boutique, art gallery, etc.) that you’ll wanna share with us! Have fun and be safe!
