It’s wonderful, but don’t start with Bikram, even if you are in great shape. Start with a beginner/intermediate level Hatha or Iyengar yoga class. Just like with any new exercise, it is important that first you learn the proper form so that you get the full benefit of the exercise and don’t injure yourself. And the high temperature atmosphere of Bikram makes the workout very intense… even long distance runners fatigue quickly at first. The combination of not knowing proper form and fatiguing quickly can be deadly in terms of sports injuries. So better to first learn proper asana form under less stressful conditions, then move up to Bikram after 3-4 months or so. Namaste.
