Drug Free Labor.. How was your experience?

Looking back it was the single greatest accomplishment I’ve ever achieved. I went to all the prenatal yoga class.. had a plan to do all these different things but I was in labor for 15 hours before going to the hospital (still had a smile on my face) and after 7 more hours I had a beautiful baby girl. All I did the entire time in the hospital bed was lay there and hyperventilate and wait for it to be all over.

Anyways.. Not trying to brag or anything.. did your experience go according to plan? :)
Not looking down on anyone who did have an epidural. It hurts like hell and every experience is different. Anyone who got an epidural could have been in more pain than me.
To those of you who had a C-section – you braved something I was more afraid of than anything. I’ll second that needle thing – no way!

I had 4 babies without anything for pain, not even a tylenol. I took the lamaze classes, which worked well through most of it, but I was a trooper through them all. My labors were long, the first lasting 35 1/2 hours, the second- 12 hours, the third- 6 hours, and my last was 36 hours. I thought the last would be the easiest, but it wasn’t. AND…I survived!! I can’t say that the laboring was the most exciting thing that ever happened to me, but the outcomes were wonderful.

Yes, my experience with child birth went very well. I had the epidural, so there wasn’t any pain at all. I was in labor for 13 hours and then about a half an hour later, I had my daughter. It was the most exciting and exhausting experience, but both mommy and daddy are proud to have her in our lives. she is now 8 mos and she is very spoiled! I think you did great delivering your baby w/o drugs. Girl, I wouldn’t do it..lol! Congradulations!

  3. Mine was not so bad. I mean it hurt like he**. But I think it was worth it. I wasn’t groggy after and I got up and showered about an hour later, with small help from the nurses. Of course I was only in labor 2 hours. :)

He was early and smaller, that helped as well.
But I would definatly do it all over again with no drugs of course. (Even if it meant I would be in labor longer next time)

But I want to make clear I don’t look down on or frown on women who choose to have the drugs. I mean honestly that HURTS! If you want the drugs take umm. To each their own ya know. Either way…..drugs or natural we still rock!

  5. none of my experciences except 1 went according to plan and i have 4 kids. I had all of mine with no pain medication. It was unique in it’s on way. my last was 9lbs and he was definitly the toughest but with the help of great nurses and a wonderful hubby i was able to get the birth i desired. I was personally more terrifed of them sticking a needle in my back than the pain.

  6. Easy fast labor. contractions were irregular and when my water broke thats when i new it was time. got to hospital close to 5:30am and was holding my son born at 6:48am. best part was no one but the 3 nurses and doctor were their so i got to cut the cord. and i was able to watch most of my son being born through a large mirror. no drugs and doctor didnt cut, i tore just a little-small healthy normal baby a week past due. most painful part was during the week after trying to go to the bathroom, even a warm spray bottle didnt help the sting.

as far as going according to plan: all natural, no classes, and my first and only child. No plan and i couldnt picture it any other way.

  7. Because of certain medical reasons i didn’t have any choice but to have a planned c-section this might sound weird but i really envy the mothers who had actual labor, everybody said i was lucky but i wanted to be in that club, oh well my son is happy and healthy that’s all i can ask for.

  9. I did not want an epideral or any drugs for that matter when it finally came down to giving birth though some things changed . You see I was in an extremeley bad car accident when I was roughly 6 months pregnant , I ended up dislocating my hips along with my pubic bone , I ended up in physical therapy for the rest of my pregnancy and could barely walk (I never took anything for pain not even the tylenol3 that was prescribed) Anyway I started really putting on the weight and the docs said I was going to have a really big baby . I was in labor for 12 hours when the doc came in and said that I had only 3 hours left to get an epideral if I was going to and that there was a really good chance that I was going to labor another 12 hours , I waited another 2and 1/2 hours and had to get the epideral . My pain never really seemed to let up . (I didnt think the epideral was painful at all) So anyway with my next one I am really hoping to not have an epideral and its nice knowing that others say it wasnt that painful , so thanks , and congrats on the little one .
